It Takes a Village is a five-episode web series that follows Zoja, a pragmatic doctor, as she is forced to confront the unexplainable after her meticulously planned life unravels.
The story begins with Zoja, heavily pregnant and recording a message for her unborn baby. She reveals she is in this situation because she ran away from her life in Prague, to an East Slovak village – her home. But the escape didn’t solve any of her problems.
Zoja finds herself relying on her cousin, Veronika, a Gen Z, TikTok witch, who is currently in training with Maria, a bit more traditional village witch. The two help Zoja find a safe haven, where she can deal with the things following her. Like the father of the unborn child, strange men in cars sleeping in front of her mother’s house or disembodied voices, Zoja sometimes hears.
